This climate crisis has affected various aspects of people's lives, especially in coastal areas, rural areas, and indigenous communities in Eastern Indonesia. The impacts are not only environmental degradation, but also exacerbate gender inequality, increase socio-economic vulnerability, and trigger the risk of gender-based violence (GBV). Women in these areas are often at the forefront of emergency response, utilizing locally inherited knowledge to maintain food security, household economies, and ecosystem sustainability. Practices such as food diversification, backyard gardening, mangrove conservation, meti-meti in the Bajau community, and balobe techniques in Papua reflect the strategic role of women in community-based adaptation. Findings show that women-led adaptation strategies are not only reactive, but also proactive in anticipating climate risks and reducing community vulnerability. However, these contributions are often marginalized in formal policies. Therefore, integrating gender perspectives and recognizing women's local knowledge is key to strengthening community resilience to climate crises in a sustainable manner.
