Abstract

This research discusses the role of mass media in influencing the public policy process. Mass media have significant power in shaping public opinion and influencing the political agenda. By using agenda-setting. this research analyzes how mass media can direct public attention to certain issues, as well as how they package information to influence public perceptions of proposed public policies. The research methods used are content analysis and case studies to understand the role of the media in the policy formation process. The research results show that the mass media is not only a link between the government and society, but also has the power to shape the policy agenda and influence the public's response to these policies. The implication of these findings is the need for awareness of the role of mass media in the public policy process, as well as the importance of openness and accountability in interactions between the media, government and society in the formation of effective and sustainable policies.
